Here in the usa, what type of auto racing is the most popular, is it nascar?

Q:

A: Although in a mass market sense NASCAR Sprint Cup (NASCAR is just a sanctioning body, the Sprint Cup series is the top series sanctioned by NASCAR) is the most popular (all of it's races are on TV, there's NSC merchandise everywhere, etc.) I'd be willing to bet that on any given weekend throughout the summer there are more race fans watching races at dirt tracks across the country, than there are in the stands at that weekend's NSC race. It's debatable whether that makes dirt track racing more popular than NASCAR (it all depends on what your definition of "popular" is), but I for one would turn down tickets to any and all Cup races to watch the local boys tear it up on dirt. The average NASCAR fan would have a brain overload trying to follow all the passing and lead changes at a dirt race. They just wouldn't be used to seeing all the two, three, four, and yes sometimes, five wide racing.
