Q: It would be better to move the race so that Formula 1 drivers could race in the Indy 500. For years the race used to be 3rd weekend of May and some years it was the 1st weekend of June. Believe it or not F1 drivers used to race in the Indy 500, its time to bring that back. But we probably will have to wait until Bernie Ecclestone is in jail or in a coffin or retirement home.
A: i wish they would but i don't think they ever will, your asking a great driver to hop in an unfamiliar car and race an unfamiliar race, for that reason i just don't see it happening, its recipe for failure, its kinda like the same problem in boxing these days, they would rather rule mediocrity that risk it all for greatness, Ive said it here before, is schumacher the greatest driver ever ? we'll never know, all we have seen is him be the greatest grand prix driver ever, and that's a huge difference, this is a list of what the greatest driver ever can do... 1978-1979 (IROC VI) International Race of Champions series champion 1978 Formula One World Championship 1974 USAC national dirt track champion (U.S.) 1972 24 Hours of Daytona 1969 Indianapolis 500 winner 1967 Daytona 500 winner Three time 12 Hours of Sebring winner (1967, 1970, 1972) Four time IndyCar champion (1965, 1966, 1969, 1984) and the pikes peak hill climb thats what mario andretti achieved, this list doesn't include his podium finishes or how many races his car failed while in the lead and as long as schumacher or any other curent or retired f1 drivers refuse to try things like indy he will remain the greatest ever
