Q: My husband cut the roll cage out of his Porsche track car. It is in one piece. Does anyone know if it is possible to reuse this in another Porsche or are they pretty much scrap after they've been in one car?
A: Don't re-use it if it has been damaged or hit hard without doing a magnaflux check on it. If it is chrome-moly and an oxy-acetylene torch was used to remove it, pitch it. If it is mild steel or if a cutting wheel or saws-all was used it should be OK. Improper heating and cooling of chrome-moly can make it brittle.
