Q: i was wondering if there was a good way of getting sponsors to help get me started in a circle dirt track like modifieds... my family doesn't have enough income to help me. i am 18 years old and this would be for the next season of 08... both my parents arent to friendly with thier bosses either... so can you help me out by telling me how to get started
A: You won't be able to find any kind of sponsor without a car. Building a car from scratch gets really expensive really fast.I suggest you buy a car already racing in the entry level class at the track where you plan on racing. Towards the end of the year people will begin to place for sale signs on their cars. Talk to these people ask them how much they are asking, what comes with the car ( motor, trans and spare parts). A side note here the better the car ran the more money it's cost. Once the car is purchased take some pictures and put together a little portfolio for yourself. Then take this around to local business's, tell them your plans ( make sure you say you'll be putting new sheet metal on the car, generally after a season a car will need new sheet metal). Point out where their name could go and maybe they'll give you a couple hundred dollars. Get four or five places to that and that money starts to add up.
