A: There are two types of drag racing. Heads up racing, where vehicles leave the starting line at the same time and the only objective is to cross the finish line first. Heads up drag racers put more money into the sport than do bracket racers which unless they are very rich, your boyfriend and his dad probably are. Bracket racing is also between two cars but instead of leaving the starting line at the same time, the slower car gets a head start depending on how much slower he is than his opponent. The drivers must attempt to predict their cars performance before they race, this is called a dial in. If a driver runs faster than his dial in it is called a breakout and he loses unless the other car breaks out by more than he did. An example of a bracket race: car A has a dial in of 10.50 and Car B has a dial in of 12.50. Car B gets a 2 second head start on Car A. Car A must run Car B down by the time they get to the finish line without running faster than 10.50, if he runs a 10.50 and crosses the finish line first he wins, but if he crosses the finish line first and runs a 10.49 or faster, then he loses... if you have any questions email me texasracer89@yahoo.com!!!
