Q: It was in the 60's or 70's, Nascar.
A: It was "Gene White's" car. He was the owner. This wasn't the car but L&R Speed Shop was where he [Don MacTavish] was a manager at. http://www.norwoodarena.com/Cars-Drivers4/Don-MacTavish/LR_car.html I have a picture on the way if I can find it again that shows the wrecked car with Gene's name on the side of it. Okay ... the following pictures are GRAPHIC and actually shows the pictures of him in the car and the wreck. ----------------------- *** DO NOT LOOK AT THESE PICTURES IF YOU ARE BOTHERED BY GRAPHIC PICTURES OF NASCAR DRIVERS DEATHS *** *** VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED *** ----------------------- Okay on to the proof. If you notice in the picture in the bottom on the left side of his car is a name. It clearly shows the name "Gene" and the next letter of the last name could easily be a "W". http://img394.imageshack.us/img394/863/donmactavishdaytona1969bn3.png You can save the picture to the desktop of your computer and then zoom in on it and it make it easier to see the name. -------------------- His name was spelled "Don MacTavish". spent a lot of time looking up the name because it was misspelled. (LOL) -------------------- From reading the articles he hit an opening in the guard rails and it tore his car apart. His front legs were dangling out of the car's front floor and another driver (Sam Sommers) ran into him again. It happened on lap 9 and he was driving a #5 1966 Mercury Comet.
