Q: I live in Indiana (and I'm a 21 year old girl) and I want to be a race car driver. I've been doing research but haven't had any luck. I'm wanting tips on getting started. Anything and everything you can tell me! Where do I look for a car? How and where do I enter races? I have no experience, should I go to a racing school? If so, which one? Thanks in advance for answering my question.
A: It'd be best to start off gaining experience on a local track. Get in touch with race organizers at small tracks near you and find out what divisions they offer (cup lite, modified late model, etc. etc.) Once you have that info you need to consider the amount of time and money you are able to invest and pick a category. Check out rules for qualifying, car modifications and such... You might want to go to local businesses and find out if anyone is interested in sponsoring you. Some will pay good money for an advertisement on your car, which will ease the financial burden. Also be thinking of a good team of mechanics, spotters, truck drivers, and etc. that will get you to the track and through the race! Good luck, and stay safe!
