Q: Like Indygate in 2005?
A: Farce? No. But as JimBeam said, I'm glad I didn't pay to see it. NASCAR could've handled it a lot better. I caught a bit of Pemberton's post race interview and I could've swore I saw egg on his face, especially when he made the comment about NASCAR's decision to not do a tire test at Indy this year. But, my hat's off to all the teams because they did the best they could with the cards (tires?) they were dealt. I missed the first 40 laps of the race, but by the time I was able to start watching it, it looked like the drivers and crew chiefs had figured out how to work around the tire issue - gambling on 2- or 4- tire stops for track position, fighting for position during the green flag runs so that when the comp yellow came out they were in a good spot for pit road, etc. I think somebody else said it, the best racing was there in the last 10 laps. I hope France's and Pemberton's shoes tasted good.
