Q: For a few seasons now, Honda has been the sole supplier of IRL engines. It's kind of a slap in the face of American race fans and I suspect hurts the IRL when it comes to mainstream audiences' (read: NASCAR fans') brand identification. So when will Chevrolet/GM or even Ford/Cosworth return to the hollowed ground of the Indianapolis 500?
A: Honda has an exclusive contract with the Indy Car Series through the 2009 season. I have a feeling either Chevrolet will try to be come the exclusive engine supplier for 2010...I also expect Tony Stewart to attempt the 'double' in 2010 since starting next season he will be his own car owner in NASCAR.
