Q: My bet's on Wurz.... Silly answers are ok too... As is abuse... I know RedSnookerBall. Kubica was my second thought the gangily pole. Great driver!! Christian Danner Justin Wilson and a Monster Truck This question is mutating outta control, but I love it!!! @BooBoo - ha ha ha. Very opportunistic! Shoehorn a question in, I like it!!! Rosbif you're a star. If we were ever to commentate together (thx Purpleman) you'd find me strangely quiet and taking copious notes! Excellent.
A: Huub Rothengatter would be my bet. He's easily the tallest F1 driver of all time, so that usually means big feet too. Here's a height comparison; Rothengatter on the left, Jos Verstappen (who is pretty big by F1 standards) in the middle and Jan Lammers on the right: http://www.verstappen.nl/picture/2006/presentatie/Bavaria4.jpg EDIT Massey-Ferguson didn't actually design the car, "Harry Ferguson Research Ltd" did. It is the same man though. The car only had one world championship race, the 1961 British GP (having had a short debut in a non-championship race beforehand) where the car was entered by Rob Walker for Jack Fairman to drive: the car was disqualified for getting a push start. It was a design well ahead of it's time, with four wheel drive and one of the earliest ABS systems ever invented. Stirling Moss later drove the car to win the 1961 International Gold Cup non-championship race at Oulton Park. (Moss actually took over the car on lap 45 at the British GP after his Lotus - also entered by Walker - expired; that's why "Ferguson" is in the list of F1 cars he drove in championship GPs). Unfortunately, Harry Ferguson had died the winter before all this took place and there was nobody to continue the momentum. Bobby Unser bought the second chassis and used it in the 1964&1965 Indy 500s. Where did you come across that, btw? EDIT 2: Here are some pics. As you can see, a front engined car which would have soon become obsolete in F1 had the project continued. Edit @piggingheck Yes, but the results weren't very impressive. Their first two designs were never built and the third was so heavy that it was only ever run inside the Soviet Union. The fourth was also built, but again didn't leave the country as far as I know. Moskvitch were the company delegated to produce racing cars, here are the designs of the 1st, 2nd & 4th cars and an actual picture of the third one: G1: http://www.autogallery.org.ru/k/ma/mosG1-405.jpg G2: http://www.autogallery.org.ru/k/ma/59mosG2-407.jpg G3: http://www.autogallery.org.ru/k/ma/61mosG3.jpg G4: http://www.autogallery.org.ru/k/ma/63mosG4.jpg what made you think of that anyway? Edit @booboo He did once, in 1960. Alf Francis (Moss's mechanic during his Walker years) designed it for him. Only one chassis was built, rear engined with the Coventry Climax engine right behind the driver and the fuel tank in the nose, in front of the driver. It actually looks like a front engined car from a distance because of the strange fuel tank placing. It was never raced in the championship because it was simply too much work to build your own car. Here it is at Goodwood in 2001: http://forix.autosport.com/8w/reviv01/walker.jpg
