Q: What is the object of auto racing? All they seem to do is drive around in circles. I don't want to offend any one but I wonder whats the point? I don't know what formula 1 is either,I prefer baseball.
A: It's the same as baseball, except: All the teams in the league are on the field at the same time, there are no time outs unless somebody gets stupid and wrecks, the equipment costs a lot more, and the drug problem is non-existent for the most part because someone could get killed or injured. Now as far as the conditioning the drivers and crew have to go through, try sitting in a sauna for three hours while maintaining your concentration. It's not that easy. For the pit crews, many in NASCAR are college athletes who didn't get drafted but are fit enough to pick up an 80 pound tire, throw it on the hub, pick up the old one, and throw it back over the wall while running at a sprint and wearing a fireproof uniform and wearing a helmet. And still some people claim they aren't athletes. Pit crews in other series are about the same as far as conditioning.
