Q: Has there ever been a time when a driver from one team won the drivers title and another team winning the constructors? If not, who would like to see this happen and which teams would you like that to happen?
A: It's happened nine times. Since the inception of the constructors' cup in 1958, it happened in: 1958 Hawthorn/Ferrari, Vanwall 1973 Stewart/Tyrrell, Lotus 1976 Hunt/McLaren, Ferrari 1981 Piquet/Brabham, Williams 1982 Rosberg/Williams, Ferrari 1983 Piquet/Brabham, Ferrari 1986 Prost/McLaren, Williams 1994 Schumacher/Benetton, Williams 1999 Hakkinen/McLaren, Ferrari You can see from those results why lots of people (myself included) feel that the early-to-mid-80s was the golden era of F1...you didn't need the best car to be champion; being the best driver was good enough!
