Q: I was watching the F1 this weekend on ITV and was wondering why when going down the start grid there were letters and numbers by the drivers names. All I can remember were there being E1, E2 and P Does anyone know if there are any more, and what they mean? Many thanks in advance Tom
A: E1 and E2 are telling you what engines the drivers are racing. As the engines need to last two races. P is telling you who has a penalty on the starting grid. Like last week Hamilton would have had a P because he was penalized 5 spaces. There are no other symbols on the starting grid but the in the pits they have symbols for the different drivers.
