Q: Why does Montezemolo seem to love this driver so much? I think if Kimi had done the same he would have bashed him badly... Despite all the mistakes he did last year he got a contract renewal whereas Kimi won the championship and Montezemolo basicly said "as long as he wins he stays", but Massa apparently doesnt need to win right? He can spin all over the place, he's fine. What are they thinking? If I remember well, the news of his contract extension came out a couple of days after the Nurburgring, where he lost the win to Alonso. Montezemolo admitted taking the decision himself! Genius...
A: I would agree with camelfilter20s. Massa is a very good No.2 driver (not withstanding the screwups this year) who wins the odd race and brings home the points. He did that very well for MS in 2006 and similarly did that for Kimi in 2007. He is non-political, a team man, gets along well with Kimi and will play lap-dog just to be with Ferrari. Very important characteristics if you want the Constructors and Drivers titles. Remember McLaren last year...
