Q: Hi F1 lovers, My partner has got us Grandstand weekend tickets for Barcelona in April as my 40th birthday present. Lucky me! I have been an armchair fan since a kid but never been to a race. My main question is while we have grandstand tickets overlooking start/finish line and garages and there are 2 giant screens visible for seeing what is going on, is there any means of getting a running commentary of the race. Does it come over the loud speakers or can you get a local radio to buy/rent that will give you an english commentary? We also have car-park spaces booked and I am wondering what kind of time I have to allow to travel from Barcalona to the track by car and get parked and settled? Also any other info about what entertainment or things to do in or around the Circuit Du Catalunya over the course of the weekend would be gratefully appreciated? Also any hang outs or party spots where the F1 fans hang out in Barcelona over the weekend? All advice donations gratefully received. Thanks
A: you had better get up mega early to travel to the circuit. I have been to silverstone many times and we usually camp right opposite the gates. I have been to Magny Cours and Nurburg too. these were organised coach trips and we left at 7ish to travel to the track. Things to do in Barcelona I can't help you with. Commentary, you have a few choices. you can hire a gadget (for the life of me I can't remember what it is called) which gives you all the info on screen along with the commentary. Its like a mini TV with the added bonus of timings etc. You could also just do what I did. I tuned into the circuit radio on my phone and listened to it with the headphones on. they speak in both the home language and in English. there is commentary on speakers around the track, but there is no way you can hear them with an F1 car going passed you. edit: that's it Kernow - A kangeroo, I just couldn't remember what it was called:)
