Q: He said pretty clearly he wanted to practice qualifying and flying laps and yet he was seen doing only long heavy fuel runs on the second practice after having made a faster lap than hamilton in the first session, are they again favoring hamilton? psychologically that is. His pace in the last race was awesome, I dont see why would he spend an entire session doing nothing but long runs when he should be focusing on qualifying. Tim R: What you say is true, but everyone else did some flying laps, including Lewis, why wouldn't Kovy do some flying laps having clearly stated that he needed to practice first lap performance.
A: Look, the practice sessions are so that good set ups can be found and fine tuned, and when all said and done a good set up for race conditions is more important than set up for qualifying as it's the race where a driver scores points.
